Goals and Characteristics
This fellowship program offers a one-year rotation. The curriculum provides a well-rounded exposure to the clinical management of orthopaedic foot and ankle patients and provides the opportunity to perform basic science and clinical research.
The Division of Foot and Ankle Surgery performs various surgical procedures each week. Exposure to a board spectrum of orthopaedic foot and ankle disorders is provided. The Fellow will participate in the preoperative, intra-operative and post-operative management of patients. The Fellow will gain experience in the non-operative treatment of foot and ankle disorders using orthotics, and prosthetic techniques.
The Fellow will participate in scheduled lectures, journal club, foot conference and anatomy dissections. The Fellow is required to participate in research.

Goals and Characteristics
This is a university-based private practice in hand surgery that serves as the Division of Hand Surgery, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Over 250 operative procedures were performed each month on this service since 1996 with a representative variety extending from congenital hand problems through complex trauma and reconstruction.
The Hand Fellow work closely with the attending staff as well as with rotating residents from the Orthopaedic Service. The goal of the training program is to provide a well-rounded clinical experience in upper extremity surgery.
Hand therapy is integrated into the practice with the therapists involved closely with patient care. A microsurgery practice lab is available and the Fellows are expected to practice microsurgical techniques in the laboratory as well as in the operating room under the guidance of the staff.
A weekly teaching conference and journal club combine to round out an intense teaching experience.

Goals
This fellowship is designed to provide the most thorough clinical, surgical, academic and research experience in the diagnosis and treatment of arthritis of the hip and knee.
Characteristics
The Thomas Jefferson University Joint Replacement Fellowship Program is based at the Rothman Institute located in Philadelphia's Center City as well as at Nazareth and Riddle Memorial Hospitals in the Philadelphia Suburban region. The fellows each have 3 surgical days, one clinic day and one research day per week. Surgical experience involves primary and revision total hip and knee replacement, hip preservation surgery and osteotomies about the hip and knee.
Research
The Rothman Institute has a full-time research staff and facilities available for hip and knee research. At least two basic science or clinical research projects suitable for presentation and publication must be produced during the fellowship. Monthly research meetings are held to facilitate the research process. The fellows have one full day per week for research, although ample additional time is available for research endeavors. The fellow is expected to present at joint replacement conferences which are attended by physicians, fellows, residents and medical students.

Goals and Characteristics
Fellows of the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital Shoulder and Elbow Service will gain extensive surgical experience from an extremely busy and varied surgical schedule.� All surgeries are performed at the Jefferson Shoulder and Elbow Center at Methodist Hospital, a specialized center with a designated, state of the art surgical suite and patient care unit. Our service completes approximately 1400 shoulder and elbow cases per year, with a varied array of arthroscopic and reconstructive procedures. Included in this total are over 200 shoulder arthroplasties, 200 arthroscopic rotator cuff repairs, 250 arthroscopic labral procedures, and countless other open and arthroscopic surgeries.� Approximately 15% of the procedures are on the elbow. A weekly shoulder and elbow conference is held to enhance fellow education. Fellows will have endless opportunities for writing and research.�

Goals and Characteristics
This is a one-year spine fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and the Rothman Institute at Jefferson. The surgical experience at our institution includes over 1,500 cases. The Regional Spinal Cord Injury Center of Delaware Valley is centered at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and approximately 250 inpatients with spinal fractures are treated each year. Over 100 operative cases of adolescent and adult spinal deformity form a second facet of the fellowship experience. Over 1000 cases of degenerative disorders, including herniated disk, instability, stenosis, and spondylolisthesis of the cervical and lumbar spine are treated annually. The fellows participate in operative cases, office hours and basic and clinical science research.

specialists. The faculty provides the clinical and surgical care for elite level athletes of all sports. All faculty members are involved in the academics of sports medicine at local, regional, national and international levels.

This fellowship is designed to provide the most thorough clinical,
surgical, academic and research experience in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of injuries occurring in the full spectrum of sports.
Characteristics The Thomas Jefferson University Sports Medicine Fellowship Program is based at the Rothman Institute located in Philadelphia's Center City as well as at Lankenau, Methodist, Nazareth and Riddle Memorial Hospitals in the Philadelphia Suburban region. The fellows work with six sports medicine fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeons in addition to three fellowship trained primary care sports medicine physicians. This allows for a well-rounded sports medicine educational program. The fellow is involved in the pre-participation screening of athletes at the professional, collegiate and high school levels. Surgical experience includes the full breadth of arthroscopic and open treatment of knee, shoulder, and elbow problems, as well as arthroplasty of the knee and shoulder. The fellow is involved with the management of the athlete in the clinic, on the athletic field, and in the operating room.
